As a recent bride, I’m here to share my tips on how I created the perfect invitations to fit my aesthetic without the expense of having someone else doing it.

So, as per most things ‘wedding inspo‘, Pinterest is always a great place to start. Get an idea of what you want your invitations to look like. I wanted a classic yet luxurious design, and once I had narrowed down my desired design it was all about bringing my idea to life.

My invitations included:

  • An A5 invitation card – containing the details of our special day and timings
  • A6 RSVP card – containing a request to rsvp and a QR code linking to our wedding website (I created two on one A5 template for ease, as these can be printed on the same A5 sheets as the invitation and simply cut in half)

Both of these were designed on Canva (link to the design used is here) and printed on 250gsm laid cardstock. (I had wanted a hammered finish card, but a previous printer had experience issues with printing on this).

I used DragonFly Print, who are local to me, and they also offer delivery services – they were super helpful with advice, and the quality of the invitations were beautiful!!!

Each invitation and RSVP card was finished by:

  • Placing inside a pre-folded vellum jacket* (You can buy the vellum unfolded for cheaper, but the pre-folded ones were so much easier!)
  • Sealing the jacket with a sprig of dried gypsophila and a personalised wax seal sticker (from Etsy).

I bought the dried preserved gypsophila as a bunch for £10 from Dunelm (although it may be cheaper elsewhere)*.

Altogether, including envelopes (different colours available*), my spend was £127.50 for 50 finished invitations, and when I’d priced the same from a business specialising in wedding invitations, the cost was between £200-£250.
